When grinding, only oil-based coolant can be used instead of water-based coolant. Because, at high grinding temperature, CBN will react chemically when it encounters alkaline aqueous solution. CBN grinding wheel will decompose in alkaline solution at 300 ℃, and can decompose in a small amount in boiling water. As a result, the crystal shape of abrasive grains will be destroyed.

SDC grinding wheel (diamond) heat resistance up to 800 degrees Celsius.

CBN grinding wheels are mainly used for processing hard and tough materials, especially ferrous metals, such as various steels

In terms of production cost, the price of CBN grinding wheel is much higher than that of SDC grinding wheel.
Diamond grinding wheels are superior to CBN grinding wheels if the workpiece allows.
In short, CBN grinding wheel and SDC grinding wheel belong to superhard grinding wheel, and the scope of application of the two grinding wheels complements each other.
