Why do you need to sharpen your skates?
1.You need two sharp edges when skating on ice. It's the combination of having a sharp inner edge which the skater pushes off from and transfer that force onto the other skate's both edges which the skater glides on.

2.These edges are called inner- and outer edges.The edges gets worn down and/or damaged when skating. New skates do not have any edges from the start. A simple rule is that dull or no edges makes you fall on your ass a lot.

2.Coarse grit grinding wheel are commonly used on rental skates and blunt skates. For example, thin wheels are used in high-quality skates.

3.Flat grinding wheels are used in speed skating and short track speed skating. For ice hockey skates and figure skates, a suitable hollow must be selected. Examples include R13 and R16 for rental skates.
